General Information

Description - The lake and its shoreline set in the gently rolling hills of the Willamette Valley, is used for boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, picnicking and camping. The Cottage Grove Dam, completed in 1942, stores up to 33,000 acre-feet of water and provides valuable flood control as well as irrigation, recreation and improved navigation downstream. The area is also managed to provide habitat for a wide variety of wildlife species, including waterfowl, blacktail deer, upland game birds, songbirds, bald eagles, osprey and many other species.

Recreation - Cottage Grove Lake is used for boating, swimming, water skiing, fishing, picnicking and camping. There are three designated beach areas, two campgrounds, two boat ramps and three picnic areas. All of the facilities at this lake are managed by The Army Corps of Engineers.

Climate - The climate in Oregon varies greatly by region. The coastal region and the regions west of the Cascade Range are generally temperate and wet. Temperatures in the western portion of the state rarely rise above 85 degrees F during the warmest months and rarely dip below freezing during the winter.

Location - Cottage Grove Reservoir is located just south of Eugene. From Cottage Grove, 5 miles S on I-5 and London Road.

Oregon Lakes and Reservoirs - This list includes some of Oregon's largest reservoirs, as well as several smaller mountain lakes. These sites offer a full range of water-based outdoor recreation opportunities.
Willamette Valley - The Willamette Valley lies to the south of Portland and takes its name from the river that flows through it. The valley lies between the Coast Range and the Cascades.
