General Information

Description - Cougar Reservoir is maintained at a high level for scenic and recreational enjoyment from May through August. This reservoir is six miles long, 1,280 acres when full, dam is 1,600 feet long and 452 feet high.

Attractions - A steep shoreline surrounds this scenic lake in the Willamette National Forest. There is camping, boating, picnicking, swimming, fishing and water skiing for visitors to enjoy. Cougar Reservoir has three campgrounds with a combined total of 41 sites. The boat launch has picnic tables and vault toilets. There is food, gas and lodging available nearby in Blue River and McKenzie Bridge.

Climate - The climate in Oregon varies greatly by region. The coastal region and the regions west of the Cascade Range are generally temperate and wet. Temperatures in the western portion of the state rarely rise above 85 degrees F during the warmest months and rarely dip below freezing during the winter.

Location - Cougar Reservoir is 15 miles southeast of Blue River and 42 miles from Eugene. From Eugene, 42 miles E on OR 126.

Oregon Lakes and Reservoirs - This list includes some of Oregon's largest reservoirs, as well as several smaller mountain lakes. These sites offer a full range of water-based outdoor recreation opportunities.
Willamette Valley - The Willamette Valley lies to the south of Portland and takes its name from the river that flows through it. The valley lies between the Coast Range and the Cascades.
