Picnicking at Ellmaker State Wayside
- Four picnic tables border a spacious, grassy meadow. A small stream flows from the northeast through the fir forest to join the Tumtum River.
Vital stats: there is no fee to use this park.
Recreation - The primary activities at this Wayside are picnicking, relaxing and enjoying the outdoors.
Climate - The Oregon coast receives abundant rainfall, mostly between October and April. July and August bring the best chance for clear days. Summer temperatures are normally moderate and almost never hot. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long.
This Wayside is located between Corvalis and Newport, off U.S. Highway 20, 31 miles east of Newport.
