Description - Fort Stevens was the primary military defense installation in the three fort Harbor Defense during the Civil War. Today, Fort Stevens has grown into a 3,700 acre park offering exploration of history, nature and recreational opportunities.
Attractions
- Camping, beachcombing, fresh water lake swimming, trails, wildlife viewing, a historic shipwreck and a military historical area make Fort Stevens a uniquely diversified park. A network of nine miles of bicycle trails and six miles of hiking trails allow you to explore the park through spruce and hemlock forests, wetlands, dunes and shore pine.
Recreation - Camping, Playgrounds, Picnicking, Wildlife watching, Bird watching, mammal watching, Boating, Boat ramp, Fishing, Windsurfing, Swimming,Walking trail, Hiking trail and a Bicycle trail. Climate - The area receives a high amount of precipitation. Much of the precipitation comes from October to April in the form of rain at the low elevations Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent. Late spring, summer and early autumn tend to bring clear, sunny days with moderate temperatures. Location -
