Beautiful vistas in Mayer State Park
Description - Mayer State Park offers the opportunity to explore a peaceful tree-lined lake. Go see lower Mayer State Park from the top of Rowena Crest and soak in a view of the most beautiful lake around. Both are actually within Mayer State Park, but few people know that.

Attractions - From the top of Rowena, Mayer can be fully appreciated for its many amenities, including swimming, boating, fishing and picnicking.

Vital stats: Mayer State Park requires a small day-use fee or an annual pass for day-use.

Recreation - Mayer State Park offers opportunities for swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, windsurfing and viewing scenery.

Climate - Climate in this region changes drastically with elevation. The area receives a high amount of precipitation. Much of the precipitation comes from October to April in the form of rain at the low elevations and as heavy snow in the higher elevations. Winter temperatures are normally cool at the lower elevations and cold at the higher elevations. Although snow is possible in the lowest elevations, it is infrequent and does not stay on the ground for long. Late spring, summer and early autumn bring the best chance for clear, sunny days and bring moderate temperatures.

Location - Mayer State Park is located off I-84, 10 miles west of The Dalles.
