Description - The Bureau of State Parks operates this scenic picnic area. It consists of 6 acres at an elevation of 2,739 feet above sea level. The temperatures are cooler at this elevation, drawing folks from the surrounding towns on hot summer days. The park sits just north of Laurel Ridge State Park. Several picnic tables, a shelter, water and restroom are available. Because this area lies within the Forbes State Forest along one of the main roads, it serves as trailhead parking for Spruce Flats Bog and Wolf Rocks Trails.

Laurel Mountain State Park is located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania just south of Ligonier. Travel US 30 for approximately 8 miles turning right onto Laurel Summit Road. Travel about 1.5 miles turning right into the state park.
