Recreation - Because the park is surrounded by Tiadaghton State Forest, it serves as access to the expanded recreation opportunities of the state forest. Folks enjoy picnicking then heading "out" to hike, cross-country ski, snowmobile or even hunt during the designated seasons. Pine Creek is located east of the park, offering cold water fishing opportunities. Little Pine State Park is located north off SR 4001, offering overnight camping for families and organized groups. Three other state parks nearby are Hyner Run, Hyner View and Bucktail. Climate - Pennsylvania generally has a moist climate with cold winters and warm summers. The Upper Pine Bottom State Park area has cold winter months with temperatures averaging around 22 to 24 degrees Fahrenheit (-6 to -4 degrees Celsius). Upper Pine Bottom State Parks is located in the central area of the state in Lycoming County above Lock Haven. It may be reached by taking SR 664 north from Lock Haven about 25 miles and turning right onto SR 44 and traveling 3 - 5 miles to the park entrance.
