General Information

Description - Green lake is a popular walk, within Seattle's 535 acre Discovery Park, and includes forests, bluffs and beaches. The nearby Olympic and Cascade mountain ranges provide great hiking skiing and camping opportunities. Sailing and Kayaking on the Puget Sound, or through the Strait of Georgia and the Strait of Juan de Fuca are also very popular. The San Juan Islands provide wonderful water passageways coupled with beautiful sunny weather, for both experienced sailors and passengers aboard Washington state ferries bound for Victoria alike.

Attractions - Outdoor activities include boating, fishing, golf, water sports, hiking, biking, mountain climbing and skiing. Seattle is situated on the shores of Lake Washington, Lake Union and Puget Sound, flanked by two major mountain ranges (Olympics and Cascades), with Mount Rainier in full view and remote wilderness less than an hour away. Nearby are the San Juan Islands, Pacific Ocean beaches and major rivers.

Recreation - Seattle offers a wonderfully varied and vibrant selection of cultural and recreational opportunities to entice visitors and residents alike, including events, programs and venues offered by the Office of Arts and Cultural Affairs and Seattle Parks and Recreation.

Climate - Seattle's Marine west coast climate varies from wet winters and dry summers, and can at times feel rather Mediterranean.

Location - The Seattle area overlaps with the Volcano Country, Northern Cascades, Olympic regions of central Washington.
