Description - Roy Lake is known for its excellent walleye, bass, panfish, and pike fishing, but you don't have to be an angler to enjoy all this park has to offer. Visitors will find sandy beaches, campgrounds, picnic areas, boat ramps and a variety of trails to keep them busy. A resort offers conveniences like groceries and bait, as well as boat rentals and cabins to enhance your stay.
The earliest know inhabitants of Roy Lake were members of the Woodland Culture, who built large burial mounds. Artifacts dating between 900 and 1300 A.D. have been found near the park. The Roy (or Roi) family is credited with building the area's first white settlement. Local American Indians called the crops planted along the lakeshore the "Roy Planting" and the name persisted.
Attractions
- Two campgrounds offer a variety of camping opportunities near the lake. West Roy campground is the larger of the two, while the campground at East Roy is smaller and more secluded.
Roy Lake Resort is open all year for family fun and business retreats. The resort features modern cabins and lodge-style accommodations, a cafe, bait, convenience store and boat rentals.
