General Information

Description - The Tamarac Wetland Management District is located in North-Central Minnesota and includes Beltrami, Cass, Clearwater, Hubbard and Koochiching Counties. Currently, all of the District's easements occur in Clearwater and Cass Counties.

The District is the most ecologically diverse area of Minnesota and extends from the extreme eastern edge of the prairie pothole region on the west and south through rolling hardwoods and aspen parkland, to the extensive peatlands and boreal forest at the north and east edges of the District. Topography, wildlife and land uses are equally diverse.
