Report: This is a great place for a family vacation. The fishing is good below the dam, and in the late spring you can see a lot of Eagles circling overhead looking for fish in the shallow parts of the river. The camping for RV's at North Point as all the immenities, and for those who want a quieter tent spot there are campsites scattered all over the river and dam recreation area, most have restrooms within walking distance, which is a plus. For food, the Fort Randall Casino has a large buffet that is very reasonable and if you like hiking there are several trials along the Missouri River on the Yankton Sioux Indian reservation, which runs all along the River. You can also find horseback riding, canoes and Native American Guides for hunting or trail hiking. Most of that information can be found by contacting the tribal hall at Marty, SD or at the website at www.yanktonsioux.com Lewis and Clark landed at Greenwood, SD on the reservation and if you visit from 2004-2006 the tribe will have a re-enactment village set up with Dakota cultural events, theatrical plays and presentations from local tribal members. Have a great trip!
