Number of People Encountered: 11-25 ppl Recommend to a Friend: Highly Report: It is great that this is kept as a wakeless lake, the bird life and sceenery and peaceful-slow nature of the day is always wonderful. The geology in the upper canyon reaches of the lake is my favorite. I see more & more paddlers on the lake which is great to see as well (even a Hawiian 6 man canoe paddled by firemen & firewomen, and rowing - sculling shells, along with assorted sea kayaks ... right here in New Mexico). If you are in paddle craft note that the winds trend to increase blowing up the canyon from 11-noon daily and usually do not calm down until about 2 hours before sunset, so it is hard for anything but the rowing shells to power back out upwind to the boat ramps.

Number of People Encountered: 25-50 ppl Recommend to a Friend: Highly Report: Cochiti is a very nice lake to go fishing or to just take the kids for swimming. The only thing I don't like is that Cochiti is a no wake lake!! I think Cochiti is big enough for boaters to go fast and to allow jet skiis, but since we can not do that, we still have fun taking the boat out and fishing...
