General Information

Description - Named for a pioneer Army post or "canton-ment" at the halfway point between Forts Reno and Supply. Deactivated in 1882, the post also served as a Mennonite school for Indians. From Fairview, 13 mi S on OK 58, 2 mi W on OK 58A.

Report: Canton Lake is perfect for families with children. Plenty of sandy beaches, easy to use boat ramps and good water skiing. The Overlook Cafe makes great burgers too. Plenty of good camping sites for tents or trailers.
