Report: Salmon Falls Creek Canyon offers wonderful opportunities for solitude once the problems of access are solved. Very few trails exist within the canyon, and backpacking is often very slow going through thick brush and talus. Boating is possible from Balanced Rock a little ways upstream (recommended- it is fun) and downstream from Balanced Rock to the Sanke River- this is a remote and difficult 17 mile trip that has some wild drops, irrigation returns and withdrawals and active landslide area that cannot be predicted.
