Description - Park City is nestled into the Wasatch Range, just east of Salt Lake City. The area offers a blend of mining history, modern ski resort facilities and beautiful mountain scenery. Deer Valley and The Canyons resorts are located adjacent to the town of Park City.

- Ski jumpers from around the world started competing at Ecker Hill in 1930. In 1946, the town's first ski area, Snow Park, opened. As the sport of skiing caught on, three more ski areas were opened within four miles of town. Treasure Mountain Resort, now Park City Mountain Resort, opened in 1963. The Canyons (formerly Park West and Wolf Mountain) opened five years later in 1968. Then in 1981, Deer Valley Resort opened incorporating many of the former Snow Park runs. In 1973, the U.S. Ski Team (now the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team) made Park City its permanent home with the United States Ski Association following suit in 1988.
Recreation - Park City is famous for its winter recreation. With its three world-class resorts, skiing and snowboarding are of course the most popular activities, but far from the only ones. For a unique and thrilling experience, visitors can run the Olympic bobsled and luge track in a caged Ice Rocket or slick bobsled. Ski jumping instruction is available on 18 and 38 meter jumps - the same jumps to be used by Olympic athletes. Cross-country skiing can be enjoyed in the backcountry of the Wasatch Mountains or at one of several Nordic centers around Park City. Park City is base to several companies which can lead you on snowmobile tours of the surrounding mountains. Other popular winter activities available in the area include snowshoeing, fly fishing and sleigh rides. Although everyone knows Park City as a snow sports area, summer is also a great time to go. The mountains around Park City offer excellent hiking, camping, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking and sightseeing. Climate - Winter temperatures in Park City average from 24 to 33 degrees. Average snowfall is 143 inches in town and 350 inches at mid-mountain on the ski resorts. Summer brings beautiful weather with normally sunny days and high temperatures averaging around 80 degrees.
