General Information

Description - Hyrum Dam and Reservoir, Hyrum Project, are on the Little Bear River near Hyrum, Utah about 30 miles northeast of Ogden. Hyrum Dam is a rolled earthfill structure 116 feet high.. Recreation at Hyrum Reservoir is managed by the Utah Division of Parks and Recreation under agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation. The reservoir is adjacent to Hyrum City, at the 4,670-foot elevation, with a 480-acre water surface area. Managed season is year round with April through September being the heavy use season. Available fish species include rainbow trout, perch, bluegill, and sunfish. All-weather access. Reservations accepted for certain campsites. Fees charged. Paradise and Logan U.S. Geological Service maps cover the area. Reservations can be made by calling 800-322-3770 Toll free outside Salt Lake or (801) 322-3770 From within Salt Lake City

Attractions - The reservoir has a shaded shoreline, is situated an an elevatin of 4,670-feet and has a 480-acre surface area. The managed season is April through November with heavy use. Preferred activities include waterskiing, swimming, and motorized boating. Available species include rainbow trout, perch, bluegill, and sunfish. All-weather access. Some facilities accessible to persons with disabilities. Reservations accepted for certain campsites. Fees charged. Paradise and Logan U.S. Geological Service maps cover the area.

Recreation - Recreational activities at Hyrum Reservoir include; boating, camping, fishing, picnicking, recreational vehicles, water sports, winter sports and wildlife viewing.

Climate - The climate of Utah varies with the terrain. Visitors to the mountains will experience cool summer nights and passing storms that can alter a sunny day very quickly. Be prepared with layers when recreating in the mountains. The deserts and canyons of Utah can be dangerous places. Summer temperatures often reach above 100 degrees F, so be sure to carry water on all adventures. Flash floods in the canyons are also a threat. It is difficult to predict incoming weather when deep within a canyon so check reports before venturing into any narrow canyon areas.

Location - Hyrum Reservoir is adjacent to Hyrum City, Utah. North from Ogden on I-84, east on U.S. 89 to Hyrum.
