General Information

Description - Gunlock State Park lies in scenic red rock country of southwestern Utah, near St. George. It lies at an elevation of 3,600 feet and encompasses the 240-acre Gunlock Reservoir and its shoreline. The park is well known for providing boating, fishing and swimming opportunities in this warm, desert climate.

Attractions - The facilities at this state park are limited to docks, a boat ramp, picnic pavilion and pit toilets. Primitive campsites are available year-round for a fee, with a stay limit of 14 days. This site is accessed mainly for day-use purposes and remains undeveloped.

Recreation - Recreation opportunities available at Gunlock State Park include year-round boating and quality fishing for bass and catfish. Other popular activities at the park include swimming, picnicking and camping.

Climate - Southwestern Utah, like other regions of the state, is arid, receiving approximately 12 inches of rain per year. The fall and spring are the most pleasant times to visit Gunlock State Park, and also the most crowded, with warm days and cool nights. Summer brings very hot days and visitors are encouraged to curb activities during the afternoons. In winter expect warm days and very cold nights.

Location - This state-run facility lies northwest of St. George, Utah. It can be accessed from Utah State Road 18 via Interstate 15.
