General Information

Description - Kodachrome Basin State Park lies in south central Utah within close proximity to Bryce Canyon National Park and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. This state park is recognized for its unique geologic features that include sandstone arches, spires and fins. The facilities are open year round with a variety of recreation opportunities available for visitors.

Attractions - The facilities at Kodachrome Basin State Park include a 27-unit campground with drinking water, modern rest rooms, hot showers and a sewage disposal station. The picnic facilities include a group pavilion, tables, fire pits, barbecue grills and electric lights and outlets. A concessionaire provides horse rentals and camping supplies and a resident ranger is available on site.

Recreation - Visitors to this park will enjoy photography, camping, picnicking, hiking, biking, horseback riding and viewing scenery.

Climate - This state park lies at an elevation of 5,800 feet immediately north of Escalante-Grand Staircase National Monument. The climate is arid with hot summers and cool winters. Temperatures can vary greatly within one day so layered clothing is recommended in any season. Warm temperatures usually begin in mid-April and last through September. Cool weather can begin in August. Warm layers should be in every campers wardrobe.

Location - This state park lies in south central Utah and is accessible from Utah State Highway 12 in Cannonville.
