- This lake is situated in Virginia's southwestern Blue Ridge region offering spectacular views and abundant wildlife. The North Fork area offers thirty-four camping units, grills, bathhouse, water fountains, playground, volleyball and basketball.
Recreation - This area offers campgrounds, boating opportunities, fishing on the North Fork Pound River Lake or fishing from the numerous rivers in the surrounding area. Pound River is well known for such fishing opportunities. It is close to the Kentucky state line offering opportunities for exploration on Pine Mountain. Pine Mountain Trail is also close by, located northwest of North Fork.
Climate - Virginia generally has mild winters and warm humid summers. The area southwest of the mountainous Blue Ridge has cold winter months with temperatures ranging from 38 degrees Fahrenheit (3 degrees Celsius) and dropping below 34 degrees Fahrenheit (1 Celsius). The state's summer temperatures have little variation. Southwest of the mountainous Blue Ridge, summer temperatures range from below 76 degrees Fahrenheit (24 Celsius) to 78 degrees Fahrenheit (26 Celsius).
I-81, Exit 14. Follow Alt 58 west to Wise and turn right onto Rt. 23 north. Turn west on Rt. 671 one mile south of Pound. Go 6.5 miles to the campground and boat launch.
