Description - The four-season resort is truly an experience located in the Blue Ridge Mountains a short distance from Charlottesville, Virginia. Wintergreen combines the finest in recreation and resort luxury with an extraordinary philosophy of environmental awareness. Wintergreen's 11,000 acres include more than 6,000 acres of undisturbed wilderness. It is a haven for education, recreation and culture offering an exciting and enriching selection.

The resort offers both day and night skiing (12 trails), mountain elevation of 3,515 feet, 20 slopes, Virginia's only half pipe, 20% beginner terrain, 42% intermediate terrain and 38% expert terrain. The longest run is 1.4 miles. The skiable vertical is 1,003 feet. Four lifts include 1 quad, 3 triple and 1 double with an uphill capacity of 8,400 per hour.

What do folks say about Wintergreen Resort? The national publication reviews are fabulous! Wintergreen was selected as one of the "Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the Country" by Tennis magazine for the 12th consecutive year (as of 2000). Snow Country magazine called Wintergreen "one of the best all-around family resorts in the country." Wintergreen was cited as one of the "best examples of ecofriendly development in the United States" by Hemispheres magazine. Stoney Creek Golf Course is ranked the #34 resort course in the country by Golf Digest magazine and Conde Nast Traveler magazine selected Wintergreen as one of the "Top 50 golf resorts in the United States."

Recreation - Downhill skiing, snowboarding, tennis, championship golf, live entertainment, fishing, swimming, hiking, boating, horseback riding, mountain biking, scenic drives, viewing scenery, fine dining, conference facilities, childcare, teen adventure camp, rock climbing, kayaking, primitive backpacking and much more are savored at Wintergreen Resort.

Climate - The Shenandoah Valley Travel Region experiences warm humid days during the summer often accompanied by pleasant mountain breezes. Frequently temperatures hover around 80 degrees Fahrenheit or warmer. Spring and fall are wonderful times to visit this mountainous area. Leaf-lookers flock to the area each October. Winters can be harsh with temperatures dipping below freezing.

Location - From the East and Northeast: Take Interstate 66 west, Exit 43A (Gainesvile, Rt. 29S). Follow Route 29S to Interstate 64 west to Exit 107 (Crozet, Rt. 250). Take 250W five miles to Rt. 151S, turn left. Continue Rt. 151 for 14.2 miles to Rt. 664, turn right. Proceed 4.5 miles to the Wintergreen entrance.

From the South: Take Rt. 29N to Rt. 151N, turn left. Follow Rt. 151 for 21 miles to Rt. 664, turn left. Proceed 4.5 miles to the Wintergreen entrance.

From the West, Northwest and Southwest: Take Interstate 81 to Interstate 64E, Exit 99 (Afton, Rt. 250). Take Rt. 250E to Rt. 151S, turn right. Follow Rt. 151S to Rt. 664, 14.2 miles, turn right. Proceed 4.5 miles to the Wintergreen entrance.
