Thetford State Park
Description - Thetford Hill State Park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the late 1930's. Much of what they built still remains today. Thetford Academy, which is situated near the park, utilizes the road and trail system for running and cross country skiing events. Campsites and picnic sites are offered as well.

Attractions - Thetford Hill State Park was developed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the late 1930's. They built a log picnic shelter, fireplaces, tables, a restroom building and the main road in the park. The camp area and picnic area is underused probably due to its location. Thetford Academy, which is situated near the park, utilizes the road and trail system for running and cross country skiing events.

Recreation - Thetford Hill State Park offers wonderful views of the Connecticut River while offering summer hiking and winter cross-country skiing. The park also offers 16 campsites and a picnic grove. Cross-country skiing permitted in winter by walking around entrance gate; all facilities closed including restrooms.

Nearby attractions include Quechee Gorge, Quechee; Catamount Brewing Co., White River Junction; Atlantic Salmon Fish Ladder, Wilder; and summer theaters located in Hanover New Hampshire.

Climate - Winter daytime temperatures average between 16 and 18 degrees Fahrenheit (between -9 and -8 Celsius). Summer daytime temperatures average between 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (20 and 21 Celsius). Much of the state's precipitation is the result of snow, particularly throughout the mountains. The Heart of Vermont Travel Region has diverse precipitation totals ranging from 40 to 44 inches (102 and 112 centimeters) in the center area of the region decreasing to less than 36 inches (91 centimeters) along the state lines of New York and New Hampshire.

Location - From Interstate 91 (east of the town of East Thetford) take Exit #14 and travel 1 miles north on SR 113A to Thetford Hill. Turn left (south) and travel 1.5 miles on Academy Road.
