General Information

Description - Joemma Beach State Park is located on Whitman Cove in Pierce County. It is part of the Cascadia Marine Trail system. Picnicking, camping, boating, clamming, crabbing, fishing, and beachcombing are enjoyed in the park.

Attractions - Joemma Beach State Park covers 122 acres with approximately 3,000 feet of saltwater frontage on Whiteman Cove. Boating facilities include a boat launch, three mooring buoys, and a large moorage dock (seasonal), made up of ten 12'x 31'8" floats. The park is part of the Cascadia Marine Trail system for human powered and wind powered beachable craft.

Facility use is first come, first served, with continuous moorage limited to three consecutive nights. The park is part of the Marine Parks and Boat Moorage system and fees are charged for moorage. Call (360) 753-5771 for a fee update as all fees are subject to change.

The park has 19 campsites, two water trail sites, three primitive sites, a large picnic shelter and five vault toilets, There is also a camp host site with full utility hookup.

Recreation - Picnicking, camping, boating, clamming, crabbing, fishing, and beachcombing are some of the activities enjoyed in the park.

Climate - The low rolling hills and sheltered inland salt water that make up the Puget Sound basin produce a mild, marine climate characterized by wintertime clouds, rain, and sometimes a light snow, but lots of summertime sunshine.

Maximum winter temperatures are in the mid- to high 40s with minimum temperatures in the mid 30s. Summers are warm with maximum and minimum temperatures in the mid 70s and low 50s, respectively. This area averages 51 inches of precipitation per year.

Location - Joemma Beach State Park is located in Pierce County approximately 28 miles from Tacoma. Take State Highway 16 to State Highway 302 from Purdy to the Key Peninsula (County) Highway to Longbranch.

Alternatively, take State Highway 3 to State Highway 302 from Allyn to the Key Peninsula Highway to Longbranch.
