- Steptoe Battlefield State Park covers 3.9 acres and offers parking for 10 vehicles and an interpretive marker. A 25-foot granite memorial erected by Esther Reed Chapter of DAR in 1914 marks the authentic site of Steptoe Battlefield.
Recreation - The main activity at the park is interpretive appreciation of the battlefield.
Climate - Washington's climate varies with each region. The Cascades split the state and alter weather patterns. Steptoe Battlefield State Park, located east of the mountains, receives significantly less rainfall than regions west of the mountains with an average annual precipitation of twelve inches.
Average summer temperatures are 94 degrees maximum and 50 degrees minimum. Because central Washington is landlocked and subject to winter winds, winter temperatures are much colder than those in western Washington.
Steptoe Battlefield State Park, in southeast Washington, is located on the outskirts of Rosalia near the Washington-Idaho border, approximately 60 miles south of Spokane.
