Description - Rocky Arbor State Park opened in 1932. From that time forward the park has served as a respite from the busy day adventures at Wisconsin Dells. Serving as a base camp, folks come to rejuvenate and prepare for the following day's events at the nearby amusement Mecca.

The park exhibits a scenic sandstone gorge believed to be 500 million years old. Only 1.5 miles east of the park runs the Wisconsin River, the original creator of the sandstone gorge. Picturesque rock walls, ledges and formations dominate the pine-shaded park. A variety of woodland shrubs and wildflowers decorate the park floor.

Attractions - Rocky Arbor State Park is a seasonal park open Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. The 229-acre park offers an 89-site shaded campground with picnic tables, fire rings, handicapped accessible site, and electric hookup. Firewood is for sale. Raspberry picking is permitted throughout the campground. Camping reservations are available online or by calling a toll-free reservation number. Contact information is listed below.

The day use area of the park consists of picnic tables, grills, hand water pump, small playground, and a short nature trail with accompanying brochure available at the check-in station.

Recreation - Recreations enjoyed at Rocky Arbor center on camping and picnicking. A small nature trail is offered.

Climate - Southwest Wisconsin has four distinct seasons with warm summers and long winters. January's average temperature is above 16 degrees F (-9 degrees C). Average July temperature is 85 degrees F (29 degrees C). During summer, temperatures can climb to above 90 degrees F (32 degrees C). The area's average yearly precipitation ranges from 32-34". Annual snowfalls in the Southwest Region can range from 20 - 40". Dressing in layers is a good way to remain comfortable in Wisconsin.

Location - Rocky Arbor State Park is located minutes away from the amusement Mecca of the Dells. The park is accessible from Interstates 90 & 94. (From I-90 take exit 85 and turn south on Hwy. 12/16 towards Wisconsin Dells for 1 mile. The park entrance is on the right.)
