General Information

Description - Monterey offers an excellent quality of life and unparalleled beauty. The City features a dazzling waterfront along the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, a lush urban forest, a rich array of historic and cultural resources, museums, gardens, recreational activities and a wide variety of special events scheduled throughout the year.

Attractions - Monterey is the home of the world-class Monterey Bay Aquarium, located on the street immortalized in John Steinbeck's novel Cannery Row, and features renowned events such as the annual Monterey Jazz Festival. Monterey has a world-class Monterey Conference Center and many wonderful restaurants, galleries and shops sprinkled among its various shopping districts.

Recreation - Monterey's beaches and parks offer ocean sports. Nearby National forests offer Hiking, Mountain biking, canping and a variety of other outdoor activities

Climate - Monterey's mild year-round climate and beautiful scenery attract tourists to the area throughout the year. The city experiences a mild, temperate weather year round with Cool summer months and warm "Indian Summer" weather in the fall. The average summer temperature is 59.5 degrees. The average yearly rainfall in Monterey is 18.33 inches.

Location - Monterey is located 115 miles south of San Francisco and 350 miles north of Los Angeles on the Pacific coast.
