Description - In the Heart of a Forest, on the Edge of a Lake

Piney forests, rolling hills, five fishing piers, and a beautiful lake draw visitors to this quiet, majestic state park. Designed to keep the focus on nature, park facilities blend with the natural landscape to enhance the outdoor experience of this 655-acre park.

The visitors center, swimming pool and tennis complex provide a starting point for your day in the park. Guests can choose from 65 improved campsites, eighteen (18) vacation cabins , two (2) lodges and a group camp that sleeps 52 for overnight stays. Playground areas are found in both the day-use and overnight camping areas.

Fishing piers and boat docks attract visitors to Lake D'Arbonne, the marvelous 15,250-acre centerpiece of the park. Recreation on Lake D'Arbonne is tremendously popular among locals and visitors, and record catches of bass, crappie, catfish and bream make Lake D'Arbonne a fishing haven. Wide open areas of the lake, about seven miles from the park, appeal to water skiers and pleasure boaters. The boat launch at the park opens up all of these opportunities to outdoor

Attractions - Tree stands in the lake captivate photographers, as do the towering pines on land and the rich diversity of wildlife and birds that make the park their home. Bring your binoculars and camera to capture the wonders of the natural world from our beautiful nature trails.

Cyclists will enjoy the challenge of the rolling hills of the park as a starting point for biking excursions into the steep inclines and scenic beauty of North Louisiana. Four lighted tennis courts add to the activity options available for all visitors. Return for a picnic under the canopy of pine trees and celebrate the magnificence of nature preserved.

Under the Stars

Memorable sunsets viewed from the water or from the shore are matched only by Lake D'Arbonne at night. Away from the crowded skylines of major urban centers, the stars and moon reflect on the lake with dazzling brilliance for the park's overnight guests.

The park's 65 campsites are all equipped with water and electricity and a nearby comfort station equipped with restroom and shower facilities as well as an adjacent washeteria to make your visit to Lake D'Arbonne pleasant and comfortable. The camping area is nestled in the woods near the lake and has its own fishing pier.

If you love pristine pine forests, camping, fishing, picnicking, boating, biking, waterskiing, cycling, hiking, photography, or just a quiet place to rest your mind, you will find a welcome spot at Lake D'Arbonne State Park.

Climate - Southern Louisiana experiences a subtropical climate that's warm throughout the year. Winter months bring low temperatures near 40 degrees F and highs above 55 degrees F. During the summer expect high temperatures to reach 95 degrees F frequently, with mid-afternoon showers. Humidity is highest in August and September. Northern regions of the state have cooler winters and somewhat warmer summers than the south. Low temperatures in the winter dip into the high 30s and highs reach 60 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months with average high temperatures reaching 100 degrees. Humidity is slightly lower in the northern uplands and the average rainfall in May is higher than any other month.

Report: this was my first time here is was with the S C V ( Sons of Confederate Veterans. i do not know where we all stayed but the park rangers were just GREAT, the only thing i did not like was we could not have open fires BUT I DO UNDERSTAND why and when i asked about other type fires i was given the answer with great att. they were not mean they were very polite. i thank you all there.
