Description - At 5000 feet in elevation, Antelope Lake is located in the north eastern part of the Mt. Hough Ranger District. It is a small remote lake with 15 miles of shoreline. Surrounding the lake are mountains blanketed with pine and fir trees. Protected coves around the lake attract several species of migratory birds. The campgrounds are usually open by Memorial Day weekend and close by the middle of October. These dates are subject to change depending on the snow level in the area.

- Antelope Lake Recreation Area offers many recreational activities. For camping there are the Boulder Creek, Lone Rock and the Long Point campgrounds. Fishing, swimming, hiking and boating are available from most of these campgrounds.

Area has a variety of water fun. Climate - The Plumas generally experiences warm, dry summers and cold, wet winters. Weather can change rapidly during all seasons of the year. Elevation plays a major role in temperature and precipitation. This precipitation falls mainly from October through April. At higher elevations, it comes mostly in the form of snow. Clouds can build up during the summer to produce thunderstorm activity. It is wise to pack for any season with clothing that can be "layered", ready to peel off or add on as the thermometer dictates.
