Eldorado State Park
Description - Eldorado Canyon State Park consists of two areas the Inner Canyon (developed area) and Crescent Meadows (undeveloped area). The park encompasses 885 acres with a variety of recreation opportunities available. This state park is a day-use area, open sunrise to sunset, that supports 42 developed picnic sites. The staff at the visitor center can help answer any questions you may have about the surrounding terrain and recreation facilities.

Recreation - The biggest draw to Eldorado Canyon State Park is rock climbing. There are over 500 different climbing routes! Climbers come to Eldorados sandstone walls from around the globe. Trails pervade the park for hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. (Be sure to check at the visitor center for specific trail information.) Anglers will enjoy the waters of South Boulder Creek during the Spring and Summer seasons. Sight seeing is always popular in this natural canyon setting.

Climate - Climate conditions in Colorado should be taken seriously throughout the state. Snow and ice are common on roads and trails from mid-October through late April. In the summer months, snow is still possible but less common. Varying conditions throughout a given day can be expected throughout the year. Remember that summer days can typically have beautiful sunny mornings and short sudden thunderstorms in the afternoon. Please prepare appropriately for your outdoor experience.

Location - The park entrance lies immediately west of Eldorado Springs on State Highway 170. To the west of Eldorado State Park is the Roosevelt National Forest and Colorado's Front Range. East of the site you'll find the heavily populated areas of Boulder and Denver on the high plains.

Directions (from Boulder) - Take Colorado 93 south from Boulder, turn right on Colorado 170 and continue to the park entrance west of Eldorado Springs, about eight miles southwest of Boulder.

Directions (from Denver) - Take I-25 North to State Highway 36, West towards Boulder. Exit at "Louisville-Superior" and turn South (left) at the light. Take the first right (West) onto State Highway 170 fro 7.4 miles to Eldorado Canyon. Continue one mile through the canyon to the visitors center. Eldorado Canyon
