Jackson Lake State Park

Description - It provides year-round recreation centered upon a 2,700-acre lake. It is fed by the South Platte River and lies immediately north of it.

Attractions - This state park provide water-centered fun with modern facilities. The park includes 264 campsites between seven campgrounds. Six of these campgrounds are located on the western shore of Jackson Lake. The Dunes Campground is located on the southern shore of the lake. Electrical hook ups are provided at 53 camp sites. Five picnic areas provide tables, grills and toilets for visitors. Two swimming areas, a boat ramp, marina, shower facility, dump station and rangers' station are also located at Jackson Lake.

Recreation - Recreation at Jackson Lake State Park is centered upon the 2,700-surface acred lake. During the warm months camping, picnicking, swimming, boating, water skiing, jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing are popular. Fishing continues year-round for trout, walleye, catfish, perch, bass and crappie.

Climate - Jackson Lake is located at an elevation of 4,400 feet on the northeastern plains of Colorado. This region sees hot summer days and nights, and cool winter days with cold nights. Due to the elevation, snow accumulation as well as severe winter storms occur. Few wind barriers exist in this region so it is always a factor. The amount of precipitation is minimal, and the climate considered dry.

Location - State Highway 144 provides easy access to the area. A map is available above on this wildernet.com page.

Report: Was there Friday and Saturday nights for a fun Dad's weekend with the kids. Next to us showed up teenagers who proceeded to drink, party, break park rules, were loud and foul mouthed, disrepectful. Note, Park Ranger was asked to step in and assist. RANGER REFUSED !!!!! He allowed the under age drinking to continue to wee hours of the morning. He did not stand up for parks rules and regulations. Is this a family location or just a party location? FAMILIES, DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILDREN HERE!
