Description
- Located seven miles north of Eufaula off Highway 431 on the Alabama-Georgia line, Lake Eufaula is known as the "Bass Capital of the World." This picturesque 1,220-acre park complements the beautiful 45,200-acre Eufaula Impoundment with many resort facilities including a full service marina. Marina Facilities include fishing and pontoon boat rental, store, overnight docking, permanent wet storage, fuel dock and boat launching facilities. Visitors will also enjoy the adjoining National Wildlife Refuge. The Nature Center has a trained Park Naturalist and is adjacent to the Eufaula National Wildlife Refuge. The Resort Motel has 101 rooms, of which most have balconies overlooking Lake Eufaula. Each room is equipped with two double beds, a TV, and telephone. Six spacious suites are also available. Lakepoint Resort's dining room serves a variety of delicious food. The cabins are newly renovated, 29 are heated and air-conditioned. Cabins can accommodate 1-8 people and provide a place to relax away from telephones. All are furnished with linens, cooking utensils and outdoor grills. Many have fireplaces for cozy winter evenings. The center features seven separate meeting/banquet rooms which can accommodate 10-500 people.
Recreation - There are several hiking trails that meander through the pine woods. The picnic area provides pavilions, tables, grills and playground for picnicking. The beach area is one quarter mile of beach area with bathhouse and there are 6 lighted, all-weather tennis courts. The swimming pool is available for motel and cabin guests and the lounge is open all year round. Climate - The climate of Alabama's lowlands can be described as subtropical with nearly 60 inches of rain each year. The highest amount of rain reaches the region as afternoon thunderstorms in July, August and September. Summers are extremely hot and humid with temperatures frequently reaching above 100 degrees F. Summer nights cool slightly and provide a good time to travel through the region. Winter temperatures are mild, rarely dipping below 40 degrees with the humidity level at its lowest in November and December. Spring and fall are very pleasant times to visit the region. Spring brings mild temperatures and blooming trees and flowers. During the fall temperatures range from 65 to 85 degrees F with low humidity levels.
