Description - Redwood National Park lies on the northern coast of California. This forest of redwood trees with virgin groves of ancient trees, includes the world's tallest, which thrive in the foggy and temperate climate.
Attractions
- Redwood National and State Parks protect old growth coastal redwoods, which are some of the world's tallest trees. The lesser known life zones protected within the park are the prairies, oak woodlands and the coastal and marine ecosystems. The park includes 40 miles of scenic Pacific coastline.
Recreation - The list of recreation opportunities available to visitors in Redwood National Park includes hiking, backpacking, horseback riding, scenic driving, photography and picnicking. Four information centers are open throughout the year to help you plan your trip. All information centers are physically accessible to wheelchair users, although wheelchairs are not available on site. Various ranger-guided programs at Redwood, Prairie Creek, Crescent City, Jedediah Smith and Hiouchi Information Centers are available. Also at these visitor centers you'll find exhibits and a knowledgeable staff to provide information about Redwood National and State Parks. Over 200 miles of trails explore the various habitats of Redwood National and State Parks. A variety of paved and gravel roads provide access to natural areas. Camping is available in and near Redwood National and State Parks. Climate - Summers are generally mild in northern California. Fog is often encountered near the coastline, with sunny, warmer weather more common inland in the foothills. Winters are generally cool with considerable precipitation. Wear layers of clothing to accommodate cool to warm temperatures and good walking shoes. Rain protection is recommended throughout the year. Location -
