Report: To the person who said this happened Memorial Day, if you were there you would know it happened on Mother's Day. I lost someone very close to me in this accident and I don't suggest that you go on that hike. The park is closed and should stay that way. God bless all that lost someone that day.

Report: I lived in hawaii for 3 years when i was very young, i played at the falls almost every day. It was my home away from home! When i returned back to hawaii in summer of 2004 and found the falls closed i couldn't believe it. The hike may be a little dangerous but i feel it's worth the risk. To see something soo beautiful now closed saddens me, i feel they need to reopen the falls and make a few improvment around the area to make it more safe! To keep people from something soo magical isn't right especially when it may mean soo much to some of us. Please reopen it!

Report: I hiked Sacred Falls when I was a student at HPU, in '98. I was very afraid when I saw the signs that read, "Enter at your own risk." We entered, we were college students and we were fearless. It rained lightly and the rocks became slippery, but all in all, I would recommend this hike. When we got to the falls, we sat on a rock and ate and some of my friends went swimming. It was gorgeous. I was still in Hawaii in school when the landslide happened and I feel bad for the families that lost loved ones during that accident. But if you are as fearless as a college-age student, then go for it!!!!!

Report: My husband and I just spent a wonderful week in Oahu. We acutally climed the fence and went into the park. We hiked the whole two miles, and found the most beautiful place on earth. It is a very dangerous hike now since the trail has been closed for some time. I do see why it is closed though. It could be very dangerous if it were to rain. It is definaly beautiful

Report: I am very glad the falls are forever closed. Had the chance to go hiking there in 94 and turned it down. In 99 I found out why as people I loved were killed. Magical beauty is just that; pretty on the outside but totally different when entered. And as for the person who was on 50-60 feet away when the rockslide happened on Memorial Day, I doubt you were there since you have the WRONG holiday. My suggestion, to anyone wanting, hoping, wishing and praying for the falls to re-open: find something else to occupy your time. SAve your petitions and holiday somewhere not so dangerous. Thank you.

Report: Back in 1984 upon our return down the coast road on the NE side of Oahu, my wife and I saw a sign for Sacred Falls. We decided to investigate. This turned out to be one of the most spectacular hikes I had ever taken. From the parking area in the hot and dry climate, and then stumbling upon the entrance sign with warnings and plunged into a rainforest-like climate, the adventure continued - taking us to one of the most beautiful spots I have ever seen. I stumbled on this site as I recommended a visit to the falls for a co-worker heading there this week. I was disappointed to hear it was closed. My wife and I plan on returning and hiking the Falls as well as Diamond Head once again - the most magical place on the face of this earth - Hawaii!
