Description
- Located in the heart of Santee-Cooper Country with convenient access from two interstate highways, this 2,496-acre park offers land and pier-based cabins, as well as two lakefront camping areas. This park is known for its catfish, largemouth and striped bass fishing, and is the site of numerous fishing tournaments. A visitor's center includes displays on natural and cultural history of the area.The Village Round meeting building makes the park popular for group functions. The park has 30 two bedroom/one bath cabins which can be reserved by contacting the park directly. The campground has 174 campsites on or near Lake Marion. Some sites can accommodate RV's up to 45 ft. Enjoy fishing in Lake Marion for largemouth bass, striped bass, bream, crappie and catfish. Fishing boat rentals (without motor) are available. Fishing boats must have gas motors which are not provided by park - bring your own motor. The park has several short hiking trails and a 3 1/2 mile bike loop. Seasonal lake swimming and rental pedal boats are offered upon availability of lifeguards. The park also has two boat ramps, picnic shelters, tennis courts and offers daily nature tours of Lake Marion.
Recreation - Santee State Park offers camping, boating, fishing, picnicking, hiking, biking, swimming, paddle boating, nature tours and viewing interpretive information. Climate - South Carolina generally has a temperate climate, with cool winters and warm, humid summers. Snow and freezing temperatures are possible in the winter at the higher elevations. Thunderstorms are possible throughout the year but most common in the spring and summer. Tropical storms occasionally strike the coast during the hurricane season. Location -
