General Information

Description - Wahiawa Freshwater State Recreation Area lies amidst the military-influenced community of Wahiawa in central O'ahu. This State Recreation Area comprises 66 acres surrounding Wahiawa Reservoir.

Attractions - The primary attraction of this recreation area is Wahiawa Reservoir. Picnic facilities are available along the wooded shore of the reservoir. Restrooms and a boat ramp are also maintained by the state at this park.

Recreation - Visitors to Wahiawa Reservoir enjoy picnicking as well as freshwater fishing from shore and from boats. No swimming or water skiing is permitted in the lake. Boating is permitted for fishing purposes only.

Climate - The climate is pleasantly mild on O'ahu throughout the year. Temperatures vary annually between 60 and 90 degrees F. Summer temperatures range from 68 to 82 degrees F with the water usually near 80 degrees. Winter temperatures vary from 61 to 80 degrees F with the water temperature close to 77 degrees. More rainfall occurs during the winter than other seasons of the year and most of it falls on the northeastern or windward portion of the island.

Location - This state recreation area lies within the central O'ahu community of Wahiawa. It can be accessed from Kamehameha Highway by taking Avocado Street or California Street to Walker Avenue.
