Fire bans are commonplace in the summer. Please be sure to check conditions and area restrictions prior to planning for campfires.

No. All of the Trappers Lake campgrounds are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

We have not had many reports of aggressive bears in the Blanco Ranger District which includes the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. There have been problems with bears, however, in other districts within The White River National Forest and there are bears in this area, so take all necessary precautions to avoid any bear encounters.

No. All trails in the vicinity of the Big Fish fire (July-Sept. 2002) are currently open. Remember to be careful and aware of the possibility of falling snags in the burned area. |
