Donnell Pond Public Reserved Land Recreation Description. Sleeping Bags & Pads
This public parcel is worthy of being a wilderness destination. Maintained forest campsites are found dotting Donnel Pond, Schoodic Bay and Tunk Lake. Black Mountain Trail provides hikers with a backcountry experience through a forest of dense spruce and oak embroidered with huge granite boulders laced with lichens and moss. Fox Pond is known for its secluded fly-fishing opportunities and its easy access to waters that permit younger children to experience their first fly casts. Canoeing is thoroughly enjoyed and lake swimming is permitted. Hunting and trapping are allowed, subject to certain rules. Call 207-287-3821 for specific policies and laws regarding these activities.

Hungry travelers heading south on SR 3, south of Ellsworth, will not want to miss Betsy's Kitchen. This small rustic restaurant features fabulous melt-in-your-mouth homemade breads, homemade jellies, blueberry pancakes, friendly hospitality, camper necessities, postcards and more. The restaurant is located on the left, a short distance from the Ellsworth Wal*Mart, which incidentally, sells fishing licenses.
