Attractions
- When travelers visit Maine, especially for the first time, often they expect to see the much talked about rugged dark stone shores with cold crashing waves framed by beautiful blue skies, crystal ocean waters and small islands occupied with historic lighthouses. Most folks venture off Interstate 95 onto US 1 with those expectations in mind. Their dreams quickly vanish when they are surrounded by bustling tourist traps in an area that deceivingly appears landlocked. By weaving around a few short streets, visitors will come upon this historic fort located along a neighborhood street. It is open year-round if you consider parking at the street and walking around the entrance gate. You will not be disappointed with the view. It is everything read or seen about Maine's famous coastline.
