Description - Lake Taghkanic State Park, nestled next to Lake Taghkanic in the rolling hills and lush forests of Columbia County, offers a wonderful variety of recreational activities. A campground, cabin and cottage, two beaches, fishing lake, picnic area, boat launching facilities and winter sports are offered.

The park has tent and trailer campsites, a cabin and cottage, two beaches, picnic grounds and a boat launch. In addition, the park has multi-use trails open year-round. Winter sports are enjoyed weather permitting.
Recreation - Lake Taghkanic State Park offers cabins, campsites, picnic area, fishing lake, hunting grounds, boat launch facilities, showers, playground, hiking trails, bike paths, boat rental, swimming beaches, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating and ice fishing. The park is open year-round. Camping season opens in early May and runs through October. Bow hunting for deer and turkey is permitted in season. Climate - The Lake Taghkanic area has a varied climate with average January temperatures ranging from above 22 degrees down to 18 degrees Fahrenheit (above -6 degrees Celsius). Summer temperatures average around 72 degrees Fahrenheit (22 degrees Celsius). Precipitation in the region ranges from 40 to more than 44 inches of rain and snowmelt. Location -
