Florida River Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
Types of fish include Brook Trout and Kokanee Salmon. Above Transfer Park Campground, the river goes into the Weminuche Wilderness.
Haviland Lake Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
Haviland Lake Fishing site is a scenic area located about one mile off U.S. Highway 550. Fishing can be good and row boating is permissible.
Lemon Reservoir Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
Boaters on Lemon Reservoir are usually fishing but we do see a few sailboarders and sailors. Even though the water is cold we see an occasional water-skier.
Miller Creek Picnic Ground Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
A footbridge leads across Miller Creek up the hillside toward the main road, to a shady roadside picnic area. This is the only picnic area on Lemon Reservoir.
Spud Lake Trail Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
The trail passes through aspen forests and skirts large rock outcroppings while following a small creek that drains from the lake. The view to the south is of the Hermosa Cliffs, Animas Valley and West Needle Mountains.
Transfer Park Campground Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
Transfer Park Campground, at 8,600 feet, is a mile up the road from Florida Campground. The campground is 11 acres and offers cool settings under mixed conifers and small aspens.
Vallecito Campground Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
Fishing usage is heavy on the lower portion and moderate on the upper portion. Fish include Brook, Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout, and Kokanee Salmon. Most of the creek is located in the Weminuche Wilderness which is accessible only by foot and horseback.
Vallecito Reservoir Columbine Ranger District,
San Juan National Forest
The lake is a very popular fishing spot with anglers going after German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike. Until recently, held state records for both Northern Pike and German Brown Trout.
