This long yet relatively easy trail leads into the Flat Tops Wilderness north of Dotsero and west of Derby Junction. It links to numerous other trails on the Flat Tops.
Baldy Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Baldy Trail is located near Pyramid, in the Flat Tops west of Yampa. It leads from Forest Highway 16, southeast past Baldy Mountain and Pyramid Peak to intersect with trail the Black Mountain Creek Trail #1117.
Bear River Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Bear River Trail, located in the Flat Tops southwest of Yampa, leads from the Stillwater trailhead, up to the headwaters of the Bear River, into the White River National Forest.
Big Ridge Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins near the mouth of Marvine Creek and climbs along Big Ridge to views of the surrounding mountains and valleys past several lakes and through a variety of ecosystems.
Big Ridge Trail/Cutoff Loop Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail is located between Marvine Creek and the North Fork of the White River. This loops takes you out along Big Ridge Trail before reaching the cutoff trail that brings you back toward the trail head.
Black Mountain Creek Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Black Mountain Creek Trail is located in the Flat Tops west of Yampa. It leads from Sheriff Reservoir to the East Fork Trail #1119.
Boulder Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins at Himes Peak Campground, along the North Fork of the White River. It takes you across the White River by foot bridge, enters the Flat Tops Wilderness, and then follows along Big Fish Creek.
Carhart Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Carhart Trail circles Trappers Lake close to the shore on the east and north sides providing fishing access.
Chinese Wall Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins near Ripple Creek Pass and leads into the Flat Tops Wilderness. The trail provides panoramic views of the White River and Williams Fork drainages and the Flat Tops Plateau.
Cliff Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins east of Meeker, along the South Fork of the White River, near the South Fork Campground. It takes you through blue spruce, aspen, and oakbrush allowing occasional views of South Fork Canyon.
Deer Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail in the Flat Tops Wilderness, leads from the Island Lake Trail near Island Lake, past Deer Lake, to link with the Chinese Wall Trail.
East Fork Trail Yampa Ranger District,

The East Fork Trail is located in the Flat Tops, west of Yampa. It leads from Stillwater Reservoir to Forest Highway 16 near Pyramid. This trail intersects several other trails along its route.
East Marvine Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The trail leads up East Marvine Creek, through the the Flat Tops Wilderness to Johnson Lake. Finally, Big Marvine Peak offers a panoramic view of the Flat Tops Wilderness and surrounding area.

The Flat Tops Wilderness is located in northwest Colorado. It is divided into three administrative sections: the Blanco District, the Eagle District and the Yampa District. The Eagle District administers the southeast portion of the wilderness.

The Flat Tops Wilderness is located in northwest Colorado. It is divided into three administrative sections: the Blanco District, the Eagle District and the Yampa District.
Gilley Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,

This is a short trail off the Buford Newcastle Road east of Meeker. Gilley Lake is in a group of seven lakes. It is the only lake of the seven on the National Forest.
Hill Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins just off of the South Fork of the White River and follows Hill Creek entering the Flat Tops Wilderness. Scenery varies, moving through aspen groves, grassy parks, Engelmann spruce, and subalpine-fir.
Himes Peak Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins just west of Trappers Lake at the Wall Lake Trailhead. It leads past Himes Peak and can link to the Big Fish Lake Trail, the Oyster Lake Trail and the Wall Lake Trail.
Island Lake Trail (west end) Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Island Lake Trail begins along Trappers Lake Trail, heads generally east to the Island Lake basin and eventually to Stump Park, on the east end of the Flat Tops.
Lake of the Woods Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This is a short trail which provides access to the Lake of the Woods, located several miles north of Trappers Lake.
Lily Pond Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail leads from Forest Road 8 to Lily Pond Park. It links to the Chinese Wall Trail or to Picket Pin Creek Trail which loops back to Trappers Lake Road.
Long Park Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Long Park Trail connects the Deadhorse-Long Park Loop four-wheel drive road #230 and the North Fork Road, County Road 8; also it connects with Lost Park Road #293.
Lost Creek- Long Park Loop Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This loop takes off at the Lost Creek trail and merges into the Long Park- Dead Horse Road before finally coming back on the Long Park Trail. This trail offers excellent views of the White River's North Fork Drainage.
Lost Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Lost Creek Trail leads up Lost Creek to Lost Park. The trail links to the Salt Park Trail from which the South Fork of the Williams Fork and Salt Park are accessible.
Lost Lakes Trail (Blanco Ranger District) Blanco Ranger District,

The Lost Lakes Trail continues from the Skinny Fish Trail to the shoulder of Lost Lakes Peak. The trail ends at the Chinese Wall Trail.
Lost Lakes Trail (Yampa Ranger District) Yampa Ranger District,

Lost Lakes Trail is located in the Flat Tops, west of Yampa. It is accessed from the East Fork Trail #1119, from either Stillwater Reservoir or the Pyramid Guard Station.
Lost Park Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Lost Creek Trail leads to Lost Park. The Lost Park Trail forks from there and links to the Salt Park Trail from which the South Fork of the Williams Fork and Salt Park are accessible.
Lost Solar Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins five miles up the South Fork Trail and takes out of the South Fork Canyon into the Solar Creek drainage. The trail finally ends up at the Oyster Lake Trail.
Mandall Lakes Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Mandall Lakes Trail, located in the Flat Tops southwest of Yampa, leads from Yampa Reservoir, north past several lakes, to Mandall Pass.
Marvine Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Marvine Trail begins at the end of County Road 12. It accesses Marvine Creek and Marvine Lakes providing great opportunity to fish.
Mirror Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Mirror Lake Trail leads from the Trappers Lake Road, up Mirror Creek to Shamrock Lake, then on to Mirror Lake. It intersects the Big Ridge Trail before reaching Mirror Lake.
Nellie's Trail Eagle Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This relatively short and steep trail in the Sweetwater area leads from the Turret Creek Trail #1852, to the Johnny Meyers Trail #2067.
Nichols Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Nichols Creek Trail branches from the South Fork Trail, 16 miles from the South Fork Trailhead, above Budges Resort. It is most readily accessed from the Coffee Pot Road, north of Dotsero.
North Derby Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
This trail in the Bear River area leads from Stillwater Reservoir over a pass to the North Fork Derby Creek.
North Elk Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The North Elk Trail leads from the Buford-Newcastle Road (Forest Road 245) into the North Elk Creek drainage. It is open to motorcycles and ATVs.
Oyster Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This 25 mile long trail begins just south of Buford. It intersects numerous other trails and passes many lakes while crossing the Flat Tops Plateau until reaching the Wall Lake Trail above Trappers Lake.
Pagoda Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Pagoda Trail begins west of Ripple Creek Pass. It offers motorcycle/ATV access to Snell Creek, Pagoda Lake and Pagoda Peak. It can be followed to Forest Road 230 or linked to the Snell Creek trail.
Pagoda-Snell Creek Loop Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This motorized trail loop links County/Forest Road 8 (near Ripple Creek Pass), the Pagoda Peak Trail and the Snell Creek Trail.
Papoose Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Papoose Creek Trail leads up Papoose Creek past several short waterfalls, to Papoose Basin. It then climbs onto the Flat Tops Plateau where it intersects the Oyster Lake Trail.
Park Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins seven miles up the South Fork Trail along the South Fork of the White River. It leads up Park Creek until reaching the Nichols Creek Trail.
Peltier Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins at the Hill Creek Trailhead along the South Fork of the White River. It takes you past Peltier Lake to Bailey Lake.
Picket Pin Trail Blanco Ranger District,

The Picket Pin Trail begins off the Trappers Lake Road. It follows Picket Pin Creek for two miles before angling cross country to enter the east end of Picket Pin Park.

The Salt Park Trail begins at the end of the Morapos Creek Road, north of Meeker. It leads to Salt Park, north of Sleepy Cat Peak and links to a number of other trails.
Sand Creek Trail Yampa Ranger District,

The Sand Creek Trail leads from the Bear River Valley, near Yamcolo Reservoir, to Sheriff Reservoir, south of Dunckley Pass.
Sawtooth Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Sawtooth Trail is located in the Flat Tops, west of Yampa. It is accessed only by the Sand Creek Trail and leads to the headwaters of Trout Creek.
Skinny Fish- McGinnis Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Skinny Fish-McGinnis Trail leads from the Trappers Lake Road,up Skinny Fish Creek past the Lost Lakes trail head and eventually forks to either Skinny Fish Lake or McGinnis Lake.
Smith Lake Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The Smith Lake Trail is a short trail located in the Bear River Area. It leads from Cold Springs Campground to Smith Lake.
Snell Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The Snell Creek Trail connects County Road 8 with the Pagoda Lake Trail 5.5 miles to the north. It is open to motorcycle use.
South Derby Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Leaving the Trappers Lake Trail you head east on the Island Lake Trail. At the Chinese Lake Trail you travel the tundra until the Island Lakes Basin lies below.
South Fork Trail (Blanco Ranger District) Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The trail follows the South Fork of the White River for close to 26 miles and is almost completely within the Flat Tops Wilderness. It links to several other trails in the area.
Spring Cave Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins at the South Fork Campground, southeast of Meeker. It leads to Spring Cave. The Cliff Lake Trail continues to Cliff Lake.
Stillwater Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Views of Chinese Wall are available as this trail passes Trappers Lake, follows Cabin Creek to Chinese Wall trail until reaching the Stillwater trail at it destination.
Sweetwater Trail Eagle Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This scenic trail travels up Sweetwater and Dry Sweetwater Creeks in the Flat Tops area north of Dotsero. It accesses the east side of the Flat Tops Wilderness.
Transfer Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
This trail is located in the Flat Tops near Pyramid, west of Yampa. It provides a short-cut access to the East Fork Trail #1119.
Trappers Lake Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail leads from south of Trappers Lake, up Fraser Creek and up onto the Flat Tops Plateau. It continues across the Flat Tops Wilderness to Indian Camp Pass, north of Deep Lake.
Turret Creek Trail Eagle Ranger District,
White River National Forest
Beginning in the Sweetwater Lake area, this trail provides good access to the Flat Tops Wilderness, and is popular for foot or horseback travel.
Ute Creek Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
The trail leads up Ute Creek and eventually onto the Flat Tops Plateau. It intersects the Oyster Lake Trail just past Oyster Lake.
W Mountain Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail travels across "W" Mountain dropping from the plateau to the Red Dirt Creek drainage.
West Lost Lakes Trail Yampa Ranger District,
Medicine Bow and Routt National Forests
The West Lost Lakes Trail is located in the Flat Tops west of Yampa. It leads from the Lost Lakes Trail, west into the White River National Forest.
Wild Cow Park Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail begins along the Big Ridge Trail which climbs up from the Marvine Creek Road. It leads into the Flat Tops Wilderness, through Wild Cow Park before intersecting the East Marvine Trail.
Wilson Mesa Trail Blanco Ranger District,
White River National Forest
This trail is located north of Meeker and south of Craig. It follows Morapos Creek and Pine Creek until it reaches the destination, Salt Park, northeast of Sleepy Cat Peak.
